Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the availability of lactose-free dairy products in stationary stores in a small town such as Strzegom, to investigate customers' interest in lactose-free dairy products and their awareness of the intended use of these products. The availability of lactose-free dairy products in the Strzegom market is not satisfactory. Most of the local stores offer only a basic assortment belonging to this product group. The offer of discounts is also poor. Strzegom residents are interested in buying lactose-free dairy products and in most cases correctly define their purpose. In spite of the limited choice in the stores, they perceive this kind of food as well accessible and have no problems with purchasing lactose-free products. However, they perceive them to be more expensive than conventional dairy.(original abstract)
