Katalog nowej żywności - informacyjna baza danych w procesie wprowadzana nowej żywności na rynki europejskie
Abstract
The safety of food products on the European Union's markets is one of the Community economy's important priorities. Novel foods are defined as products that have not been consumed by humans in the Member States of the European Union before 15 May 1997, irrespective of the dates of accession of the individual Member States. Novel foods may be food products which are newly developed or innovative or which are produced with new production technologies and processes. Novel foods also include traditional foods from third countries, i.e. consumed outside the European Union, which have not been mass marketed within the Union. Some of these products have already been commercially traded on European markets, while others are completely new and must undergo approval procedures to be allowed on the EU market. The obligation to register lies with the entrepreneur who, with the support of the relevant national authority, must carry out the registration procedure. An important informational support is the Novel Food Catalogue, available on the website of the European Commission. This article opens a series discussing the contents of the Catalogue and current aspects of the registration procedure and is based on the European Commission's information service.(original abstract)Downloads
