Abstract

The aim of the study is to assess changes in the seasonality of milk purchase prices in Poland against the background of selected EU countries. The analysis covers changes occurring during the functioning of Poland on the common market of the European Union as well as the impact of the abolition of milk quotas on the prices. The two largest milk producers in the EU - Germany and France as well as 3 Central European countries the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland were selected for the research. The time range of the research covered the years 2004-2018. Poland's entry into the structure of the EU market resulted in an increase in prices of milk. They fluctuated in similar cycles as in the other analyzed countries. The rhythm of seasonal price fluctuations was also similar throughout the year. The abolition of milk quotas has not caused significant perturbations in terms of purchase prices. However, it became an opportunity to deepen the structural changes gradually taking place in this market.
