Abstract

Management innovations as difficult to duplicate can be a source of a relatively sustainable competitive advantage, increased efficiency, improved productivity, and financial results of enterprises. Although these innovations are gaining popularity and recognition, the methods and processes of their development still remain insufficiently studied and recognized. The poor development of management theory in terms of its practical usability and real impact on everyday managerial decisions and actions in the face of the intensifying transformation in the social and technological dimension is an important argument for seeking a new approach to management innovation. The research aims to identify a relatively new approach to innovation based on design methodology and practice, and to formulate the fundamental premises for using this approach to management innovation research. The method used to solve the scientific problem was deduction referred to an in-depth and critical study of the literature in the field of management innovation, contemporary design-based approaches, and the epistemology and methodology of management as the artificial science. The main result of the research is to formulate the fundamental premises of using the assumptions of the design-based approach to management innovation, and the explanation of their implications for management sciences.
