Abstract

In this paper has been done the operationalization of such categories like: (1) the success of researcher and (2) skills of researcher in the field of Sciences of Management (SoM). This aim is included in wider researching attempt based upon the empirical verification of relationships between above categories. The necessity of specifying these categories is the result of research gap recognized in the English-language literature analysis. Analyzed scientific papers are located in Scopus and Web of Science, mainly in such collection like Social Science Citation Index, Book Citation Index, Conference Proceedings Citation Index. These papers presented results of the research devoted discussed issues. But the framework of these analysis were papers published by Polish authors in particular the cycle of publications written by Professor Jan Lichtarski entitled The success of research activity. Key conclusions in respect of the researcher success in SoM have emerged after distinguishing five fields: (1) the character of scientific discipline, (2) the researcher, (3) universities/research institutes, (4) state and legal regulations, (5) economic, social and cultural environment. In the range of researcher’s competencies it was not possible to find out any publications devoted the desire competencies of researcher success in SoM. but authors of this paper used publications located in two fields: (1) research approaches (deduction versus induction, nomothetic versus idiographic approach), (2) co-operation with different objects (bilateral perspective: researcher-organization; three-sides perspective: researcher – intermediating organization (consulting, advisory) – organization). Results of this study led to conclusions about the directions of the empirical research in the field of researcher’s success in SoM.
